Forminit Webhook

Forminit (formerly Getform) POSTs a JSON body on each new form submission. Each POST is one stored report; tools read what already landed — there is no pull API and no way to submit or replay from here.

Payload shape

Top-level fields in export.json:

• event — always form.submitted for production deliveries.
• formName — the form that received the submission.
• id — unique submission id; use for deduping when comparing recent deliveries.
• submissionStatus — workflow status such as Open, In Progress, or Done.
• data — all answers and metadata (see below).

Inside data:

• sender — contact block when the form collects it: email, firstName, lastName, fullName, phone, company, position, address, city, country (only fields present on the form appear).
• {field-name} — each custom question keyed by its form field name (often hyphenated); values may be strings, numbers, booleans, or arrays for multi-select.
• file-{name} — uploaded files: a single upload is one object with file, name, and size; multiple uploads on one field are an array of those objects. Bodies carry hosted download links and metadata, not binary bytes.
• submissionDate — human-readable timestamp string.
• submissionDateISO — ISO 8601 submission time; prefer this over source.captured_at when answering “when did they submit”.
• submission_info — technical context: ip, user_agent, referer, sdk_version, and optional location (country, city, geo coordinates, timezone).

Field names are defined per form — never assume fixed keys beyond the envelope above; inspect the latest JSON for this connection.

First moves

1. Latest report — default for “what was submitted last” or lead triage.
2. Read data.sender and custom keys — extract contact details and answers from the latest payload.
3. Recent reports — list when comparing volume, duplicates, or submissions on a specific date.
4. One report by id — after listing, when the user points at a specific submission.

Response shape

• export.json — parsed Forminit webhook object when the body was JSON.
• export.text — raw body for large or non-object payloads.
• source.captured_at — when the webhook landed here (may differ slightly from data.submissionDateISO).

Operational order

1. Start with the latest report — do not guess a report id.
2. If captured_at is older than expected, say so — submissions arrive only when Forminit sends them.
3. List recent reports only for history, duplicate suspicion, or explicit compare-by-date asks.

Gotchas

• Read-only — cannot submit forms, change submission status, or trigger webhooks from here.
• Variable schema — custom field keys mirror the form builder; two connections may use different shapes.
• Files are links — file-* values reference hosted downloads; quote filenames and sizes from JSON rather than assuming file contents were stored here.
• Duplicate deliveries — compare top-level id across recent reports if the upstream retried the same submission.
• Empty — no stored reports means nothing has arrived yet; say no submission is available.
